Airstream in the Woods
We are city folk but about thirteen years ago we began this adventure to create our own woodland retreat. It began with one acre out in the woods of Wisconsin. Now we have four acres and a daughter to share the woodland experience.
Finding the Edges
That's a whole lot about what this experience is about: searching for and finding our edges. It seems that each hour, each day, each season out in the woods reveals for us a new edge: the edges of a fire, the edges of cold, the edge of an axe, the edge of the water, the edges of our hearing ability. How far can we push it until we snap? After which comes the declaration that I've had enough for the day or the weekend and retreating to the trailer for a DVD and some nachos. Often finding a particular edge and retreating for an hour into the trailer ends with an evening back outside, around the campfire, pushing the edges of wakefulness because of the warmth of the fire and the sounds of a guitar in the woods is just downright soothing of those nerves on the edge.
Come with me into the woods.
Below is a collection of photos and words from our various experiences.
