Loosened from the mud, I find myself floating in a world of possibility.

So can you.

hawk

Specifically, a sharp-shinned hawk or so says my guidebook.  I know this because the description claims that it goes for little songbirds and this morning, this beauty was on the hunt for a little bird in the brush pile.  I know that he (she?) didn't get it because I saw it fly away with nothing in its talons.  I watched for about 5 minutes as it went round and round the brush pile on the hunt for a tasty (?) morsel.

I was a bit awed as it turned it's predator gaze upon me.  I have read descriptions in several books I love about that predator gaze coming from some hot steamy man.  I think I understand that description better.

I think it is a juvenile from the predominate color and I do think it's male because of that same color, but I could be wrong.

This was such a lovely experience.  I kept sitting there thinking that by the time I went into my house to get my camera, the hawk would be gone.  Finally I just had to do it trying not to slam the door in my haste.  The hawk stuck around and I felt I needed to follow up by looking up the animal totem.

Hawk:  Be observant of life right now for the messages that surround you.
