Cafe Degas

The bloody marys were excellent and a much needed relief. We were far from the best table in the restaurant but right next to the tree growing up through the roof.
I think the best way to go to a restaurant that someone else recommended and someone else loved is to visit the place with that person. We enjoyed the experience but it was super busy and we were super hungry and unfortunately we caught the vibe of the woman sitting next to us who didn't enjoy it at all. The place got so much better and lighter once she left. I was hoping she wasn't a restaurant critic but the thought quickly left me mind as we moved on with our day.
Cafe Degas - apparently the artist lived on this street for many years. Post-Katrina photos hanging on the entryway wall showed how much was needed to fix up the devastation.
