I bought one CD while in New Orleans and it was from this street musician: Violin Joe, Original french canadian music from montreal.  I kept running into him and the first time I heard him, he was playing just outside this tiny shop during the whole hour-long consultation I had.  So not only does the music remind me of that very pleasant hour but also his music has infused all my memories of wandering up and down Royal Street of the French Quarter.  I love new music and I'd point you all to where you can buy his music but I can't find him anywhere on the internet.
