On Independence Day five years ago we took a pregnancy test. Life's biggest irony. Now I have that family and I am astonished by how much more independent I feel. We get to make the decisions on how we want to live, what sort of family we want to be, what we want to eat, how we spend our time. That's the privilege of living in this first-world nation. Today I celebrate the freedom to be what we want to be.
