Loosened from the mud, I find myself floating in a world of possibility.

So can you.

no trespassing

We post signs all around our property notifying other humans that hunting and trespassing are not allowed without our permission. We have granted hunting rights to our neighbor with the agreement that he share with us the venison. Summer and winter are the best times to keep an eye out for anyone wandering through the land because those two seasons provide plenty of opportunity to leave evidence.

The deer are habitual and they make clear straight paths through the dense brush. I love following these deer trails whenever possible. They walk the edges of our property. We rarely see them but we do hear them at night.

Last year we had a bear in that patch of woods. I wonder if they use the same trails but I doubt it. We've seen huge swatches of flattened grass near the berry patches like a big old bear just hunkered down and had a snack. Dang bear doesn't like to share! I haven't heard that bear yet this year so maybe we'll get a few more berries.
