The road through our property is owned by the local electric co-op and they keep it well groomed. It used to bother me so much because I wanted wild and bushy. I wanted another buffer of cover between our retreat and the road. Yet I've come to find that all this "over-grooming" of thin tall trees has allowed the lowers bushy to grow and thrive. We now have a decent blackberry patch and
the wild strawberries are coming in quite nicely below.
So off we went to harvest our abundance of berries.
As promising as it all looked, you can see that our harvest was quite meager!

August break - sweetness |
It was enough for a decent photo. There was a bit of sweetness behind the mouth-puckering tart of these little blackberries.
Hopefully more to come this weekend. If only we can get there before the all the black bears eat them up!
