Loosened from the mud, I find myself floating in a world of possibility.

So can you.

E. Abbey Revisited

Paradox and bedrock.

Loveliness and a quiet exultation.

I'm less enamored by Edward Abbey on this second read-through of Desert Solitaire. More on that later. For now, I appreciate the bits that resonate through my soul.

  1. Less enamored, why? I just read it for the first time and loved it, so will be curious to hear your thoughts. (Gorgeous photos, as always!)

  2. I'm not sure yet, Deonne. He just seems like a jerk the second time around. I'm not that far into it but the whole killing the rabbit with the stone thing rubbed me wrong and that was many pages after I started feeling like he is a jerk. There are beautiful moment, for sure.

Also, as I was searching for images of the Park when he was a ranger, I stumbled upon his anti-illegal-immigration stuff which kind of set me off.

But I'm going to keep reading because for years he was a hero to me. And I love Moab and I'm still feeling like I wish was down there!
